- Episode #23 is now active! Feel free to download the episode here or listen to it and other episodes here.
It's been a while since the last episode of this podcast. About a month or so. A lot of cool things happened since then. Warped Tour stopped by in Las Vegas for one thing at the end of June. I got to see some of it before leaving early to go to work. I got to see Pepper again as well as some of Set Your Goal's set. It was also the first time I got to see Big D and the Kids Table and it was everything I hoped it would be. They even played a second show later that night. Read more of my thoughts about Warped Tour here. Vultures United's kickstarter for their Girls EP was a success! So that's in the works right now. And Voice of Addiction released the vinyl version of their new album, Reduce, Reuse, Resist not too long ago. They are also going to start their tour soon and will be making a stop in Las Vegas. I believe, they will be playing at the Double Down.
So this episode features some familiar bands as well as some new ones. Dangers opens the episode with a track from their, Messy, Isn't It? Album. They are currently on tour in Europe and have been for this entire month. They have a few dates left, ending with a spot at Fluff Fest. Also on the episode again are tracks by Innertwyne and Sub*Vert. Innertwyne have been playing shows on and off this year and some of their performances can be found on YouTube. Reptoids are a metal influenced rock band from Chicago with a show coming up next week in their area. And the featured track on the episode comes from No Contest, a hardcore band from Grimsby. Really great tunes on this episode. Thank you for taking the time to listen to the music. Please support your local scene because without there is no scene. Enjoy the music on the episode. Thanks again for listening!

Lots of new music came out since the last episode of this podcast. A new tune from blink-182 came about as did some new tunes from Thick Shakes and Science Fiction Theater. Check out my blog, as I try to update that thing every now and then :-/. Also, Last Stand For Lucy will be releasing a new album soon, in the form of two five-song EP's. Check out their reverbnation for new tunes. They're excellent. Lots of good new music coming out :-D
For this episode, along with a couple new tunes, I'll be revisiting some music from bands on previous episodes. Opening the episode is Casket Life with a track from their first record, The Good Times are Killing Me. They have a show coming up in September with some really cool bands. Check out the details here. Also on the show is an excellent track from Battle Flask, a four-piece from Los Angeles, California. A really awesome band, they have several shows coming up. Check out their facebook for details. I'm hoping to catch at least one of those shows...here's hoping though. I also have a track from The Rusty Trombones' EP, Fights & Flights and one from Chewing on Tinfoil, from their album, Get Rich or Try Dyin'. Chewing on Tinfoil come from Dublin, Ireland and will be on tour with Leftover Crack soon. They too are an excellent band with great punk/ska tunes. Listen to more of their music here. The featured track on this episode comes from Eskera. I played a tune from them on Episode 21. Their new album, Ruido Debajo Del Puente, is an awesome 15 song record of punk/ska/crust tunes. Listen to more tunes on their bandcamp.

- Episode #25 is up for your listening pleasure. Download the episode here or listen to it here.
I've been a little busy these past few weeks, but I think it should be chill for a bit now. School started yesterday and the first week is always the most exciting, but geez, it's so damn hot out. Like really. I must be crazy to think I can keep walking to school until I decide to just buy a parking permit. Easy. Oh well. Anyway, good luck to everyone attending class this term.
Thanks for stopping by. This episode has some pretty sick tunes. I'm happy to be able to share a track by Brave Monster from San Diego. The track comes off their self-titled EP. If you get a chance, pick that EP up as well as their two-song EP, Breakdance Kid. I'm pretty sure every song will melt your face off. It's that good. Sadly, they're not active anymore. Check out Easta Green Music and the other bands on their roster. Also on the show is a track by Brilliant Red Lights from San Francisco. They play really energetic tech-pop, that at times, will probably make you want to dance. This band wrote tons of tunes and use to release it on a monthly basis for free on their website, which is no longer online. They released only one album, through Agent Records, titled, Touch Like You Want It. I was lucky enough to catch one of their shows during a summer tour, I believe sometime in 2006. It was a great show. Even though it was such a low attendance, they still put on an awesome performance. I also have a track by Pet Tigers, locals of Las Vegas. So far, I've only heard the two tracks they have available on their reverbnation and facebook pages, but hope to catch them at a show sometime soon. Just listening to their tracks, I can tell they probably rock faces off each time they play live. They will be a part of this years Neon Reverb Music Festival, which actually starts on September 6th (they play a set on September 8). I actually hope to attend some of those shows this year. Looking forward to that. Again on the show, I have tracks by Lands on Fire and Elba. Both have shows coming up. Lands on Fire actually have one tomorrow (check details here), in San Diego @ the Ruby Room. They also posted a new track titled, Strange Land, on their website and facebook page. Free download too. Elba will actually be releasing a new full-length in September. It will be number three for them. The record release show will be on September 22 in Seattle. This show will be the end of their mini tour beginning on September 09. Check out their website for more details about that.
Time does fly by, I can't believe it's going to be September in a couple days. Every month this year, I see a small, but consistent increase in downloads and visits, so thank you for that! Support local music! Please enjoy the music on this episode. As always, thanks for listening :-D

- Episode #26 is now up and streaming. Download the episode here or listen to it here.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic week. I picked up the new Saves the Day record, Daybreak. It definitely is poppy, not in that pop-radio mainstream way...if that makes any sense, but I guess, catchy...I like what I hear so far. As for shows, caught some of Neon Reverb that happened not too long ago. It was pretty sweet for the most part, although, I only did attend one show out of the six days it was on. Pet Tigers were really cool. But a lot of the local bands that I did miss have a few shows in the coming weeks. Looking forward to that. Please check out the blog as I tend to update that, if anything, with my tidbits of randomness :-D
For Episode #26, I'll title for now, Heavy Metal Queen. On the episode is The Midnight Society, a band from Spokane, Washington. One of my favorite bands, ever (I have too many favorite bands :-p). They've been inactive for sometime. I believe they played their last show sometime towards the end of 2009. Although I wasn't able to catch that show, I was fortunate enough to catch a couple of other shows that year, in Washington and Oregon. They always did put on an awesome show. Also on the episode is another track from Ninjaspy. I played a track from their album, Pi-Nature, on Episode 11. Another track from that album is on this episode as well. They have a new EP (No Kata) coming out soon that will be released along with a graphic novel. Again on the episode too is a track from Across the Sun. This time, the track comes from their first EP, This War. They are currently signed with Metal Blade and released their debut record, Before the Night Takes Us. The album is pretty damn amazing. They also played here in Las Vegas earlier in the year, or at least I think they did. For Extreme Thing. I believe they were on the schedule to play that show. It was an early time slot. I didn't go though...I think I had to work that day. I also play a track from The Great Divorce, a thrash/hardcore band from San Francisco. I got one of their samplers during TomFest 2005, from their drummer. All the members of the band were handing out samplers of their music, as did a lot of other bands. I remember picking up samplers from bands like Brightwood, Alliance, and Endeavor. And I'm pretty sure Brightwood is still very much an active band. But I did check out The Great Divorce's set later on the day. I was hooked since, although they have long since disbanded a little while ago. And of course, Portrait of the Assassin. I came across these guys through another band's page. Glad I did. Really tight music. And the guitars are pretty awesome to listen to. It's a pretty aggressive record with some fine musicianship. Hope to catch a show of theirs someday.
Please enjoy the music on this episode. Recommend the show to a friend ;-) Go out and support local music! A lot of awesomeness is out there. Until next time, thanks for listening!

Hope everyone enjoyed the last show. Thanks to everyone listening and downloading episodes! Just recently, Last Stand For Lucy finally released their new EP, Dysthymia Part 1. Instead of releasing one full-length, they decided to release it as two separate EP's. The new EP is available on iTunes and other online outlets. It's pretty damn good :-D
Episode #27 is here so soon! It is pretty fast, but I'm hoping to try to release some more new episodes (this time with some consistency on my part) for the next few weeks (and months), lots of awesome music to share! A few bands on this episode have new tunes coming out soon. I wanted to share some current and older stuff before the new music comes out to the masses! On this episode is an interesting mix of rock, pop, punk and rock n' roll. Opening the show are Say Revenge!, a four-piece from San Antonio. The song (Just Go) on the episode comes from an older demo, but the band actually have a new record coming out. The record release show will be on September 30. The name of the new album is, Rough Night, Sugar? Also on the show is a track from the band, Challenger!, from Spain. Really awesome band. Their latest record, Ümelsion, is a fantastic album full of punk and rock tunes. Talky Tina, a trio from San Jose, also have new tunes in the works. The band produced a music video for the song, Drugster, a new one to be featured on an upcoming EP. I also have another track from Neckties Make Me Nervous, this time from their last record, (I'm Captain and I'm Telling You) This Ship is Fucked. The featured track on this episode comes from The Kobanes. The track, 2 Years Left, is off of the band's latest release, False Accusation. The band also made a stop here in Las Vegas during their West Coast summer tour.
Please enjoy the music on the episode. Check out the band's websites and maybe pick up a record or two :-D Support local music! Thanks for stopping by! Thanks for listening!

Hope everyone is having a good week. It's finally Friday! Several cool shows happening tonight. And I'm sure there are a lot more. I still have yet to check out the Jabbawockeez. Really? Yeah, really. I guess that's the cool thing about this town. It's like one big buffet. Lot's of variety. Anyway...Thrice will be playing at the Hard Rock. If I decide to go, it would be my first Thrice show. And it would be about damn time. It probably would have been better to see them during their Illusion of Safety era or Vheissu. That was a pretty good album. Say Revenge! will be having their CD release show for their debut, Rough Night, Sugar?, tonight in their hometown of San Antonio. And a show with a pretty cool lineup. Doctorshopper, Hoax, Neo Cons, and Nests. I heard some of Doctorshopper's stuff. Pretty cool. That would be a cool show. I have yet to check out the Yayo Taco. It's like right there on Maryland. Or at least that's what it says on yahoo maps.
Episode 28 features some pretty awesome bands. I play a track from Situation Red, from Cincinnati. They have some pretty cool tunes. Check out more of their stuff on their website here. Pretty tight fast punk rock. I like it a lot. They are currently writing for a new record. Also on the episode is a track from A Life Worth Living. Checked out their music as early as last year. Glad to be able to share a track from them. They have two releases out, a demo and a four-song EP called, Motorcycles in Heat. They have links on their facebook to more of their music. Again on the show is another track from She Likes Todd. Absolutely love these guys. They definitely do progress musically from album to album. Their last release, A Story Still Untold, is just a fantastic release, but I'm really digging the album before that one at the moment. Check it out sometime if you get a chance, it's called, Falling Much Too Fast. Also on this episode is a track from one of my favorite bands, ever, Tweaked. I first heard these guys on the first Hawaiian Express sampler tape. Yeah, it was a cassette tape with a blue cover, going for $3.98 at Jelly's. I took a chance on this one after buying Generic's, Hawaiian Assault, and The Stickler's, The Auto Tapes. It was pretty damn awesome. I got hooked on Tweaked soon after as well some of the other Hawaii superstars. And of course, I have a track from HeyMike! The track comes from their new album, Pop and Circumstance. I love it when bands release updated versions of previous songs. But they also have a bunch of new tunes as well. Really good stuff. Check it out when you get a chance. It's up for digital download on their facebook. And the cover art is pretty awesome too.
Hope everyone has a good weekend! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the site. Please enjoy the music on this episode. Next episode will have some pretty cool punk/ska tunes. Support local music! As always, thanks for listening.

It's finally cooling off here in Las Vegas. For a little bit. I think I can finally cruise with the windows down. Let's see how consistent this weather will be. A lot of cool local shows happening tonight. Will I be attending any? hmmmm, don't know. Big D and the Kids Table will be playing on Sunday with the Have Nots, Everyone Meltdown and Tuesday After School. Really cool lineup for a show on a Sunday night. Really.
On Episode 29, I have a few tracks from bands that I played on previous shows. I have a really awesome track from Go Jimmy Go, off of their album, The Girl with the Fishbowl Eyes. Fantastic album. They have a show next week Friday, October 14. It will be during the first ever, Zombie Pub Crawl. What's that? Basically it's zombies drinking booze and eating brains! Well, mostly just drinking booze I would hope. And it's set in Chinatown and a bunch of local bars are participating I think. Sounds like a pretty cool event. A $100 cash prize will also be given out to the best dressed zombie. I think there's a similar event in Portland this year too. But I think it's just a walk happening on the 30th. And speaking of zombies, did anyone see the trailer (or the full film) for Juan of the Dead? Looks pretty damn awesome. Anyway enough zombie chatter. Also on the episode are Night Gaunts, with a track from their first release. Love listening to this band as well as Eskera. I play a track from their Nuestra Lucha, Nuestra Gente, release. They too have a show happening tomorrow in San Diego. Looks pretty dope. Check that out here. I also play a track from this really awesome band, The Beat Dolls. Awesome? Yeah, for real awesome. They have a show on October 16. Well, it'll be streamed online. It's going to be live and unplugged and I think you'll also be able to chat with them and everything. That should be dope. Check out details for that here. The featured track on this episode comes from Ghetto Blaster, another cool band from Toronto. They have a new album coming out real soon titled, Think For Yourself. They have a little promo of that available on bandcamp through Riot Ska Records. Those tracks are sounding pretty sick. Like in that good way.
Have a safe weekend. Please enjoy the music on this episode. I know I do :-D Thanks for listening.

Check out some noise and rambling here ;-) Wrote up a couple reviews and such. A couple cool music videos were released, one from Last Stand For Lucy for the song Heartless Son of a Bitch and one by Pacifica for the song, Trading Sleep. Both really cool videos.
I got some pretty tight tracks on this episode. It is one of the more shorter episodes coming in at just over 15 minutes. I'm playing some hardcore and punk tracks on there, with one from Mistermeaner and Up the Fury. I've played some tracks by these guys on some past episodes. Mistermeaner just recently played a show with Ira Hayes, The Forgotten, 13th Legion, and Never Enough. Love listening to these guys. Also on the episode is a track by Low Value, from the country of Slovenia. Really cool punk rock from the other side of the world. Very melodic and progressive. I also play a track from Dead Icons, one from their Winter Demo released in 2008. These guys just recently finished recording their full-length and should be out sometime soon. It will be released through Bullet Tooth Recordings. I know it's going to be an awesome record. Stoked to hear some new stuff from these guys. The featured track comes a band from New Jersey called, Less Life. Fantastic stuff from this band. They got some tunes on bandcamp for download including a couple tracks from their new LP, Today Will Be Ours, and their 5-song Demo.
Thanks to everyone checking out and downloading episodes. Means a whole lot. Feel free to spread the word about the show to friends and such. Definitely check out some of the bands if they're playing shows in the area. Also, if you haven't all ready done so, feel free to also subscribe to the podcast :-D Enjoy the music on this episode, really awesome tracks on this one. Have a fun and safe weekend. Happy Friday! As always, thanks for listening!

Halloween is approaching! Costume ideas? Not for me...more than likely it'll just be a movie marathon consisting of 28 Days and 28 Weeks Later, Dawn of the Dead through Land of the Dead and maybe some Return of the Living Dead 1 - 3. Insidious was pretty kick ass. Oh and the new The Thing! I'll see... Any way, did anyone check out the new Vultures United 7"? It's called, To Live and Die in Gainesville, released through Kiss of Death Records, check it here. Also, pre-orders are up for Toh Kay's new album, Streetlight Lullabies. It's going to be 10 songs of acoustic versions of Streetlight Manifesto songs. I'm curious to hear these acoustic version, the last album by Toh Kay was that split with Dan P. That was a nice album.
How was everyone's week? I cruised around the Cosmopolitan for the first time this past week. It is a pretty artsy-fartsy hotel, very retro vibe to it. Really cool. Up until last week, I've only read about the Cosmopolitan in the local magazines in town and through friends and such. I guess I would be a little irritated too if I worked there and everyone is always messing with the art pieces. I think that big shoe in the hallway is a piece of "art." Fair warning! Don't put your foot in it, I don't think they like that there, but then again, I didn't see any "Do Not Touch," signs up. I took lots of pictures, yeah, lame, but it was pretty cool. I'll be writing about it later here :-D I want to Suit Up next time I go there.
Episode #31 is a special episode. On the episode are seven tracks from seven new releases that I've been listening to throughout the year. Really good stuff, I hope enjoy them too. I play a track from Dirty Filthy Mugs' new album, Up in the Downs. Very awesome stuff, now I wish I was able to have gone to Punk Rock Bowling. They played a set during PBR and I"m sure it must have been a blast. I hope they can make it back again for that...or any other time of the year. I also have a new track from the new Quintessentials album, Sarah Alice is Dead. It's an album with both new and unreleased tunes on it. But I think they have more new stuff in the works too. A song from Lipstick Homicide is also on the show, with a track from their Brainhole EP. They're a really fun band to listen to. I think if Kevin Smith were to write and direct another movie (Not Red State, although I haven't had a chance to see that yet), Lipstick Homicide should be on the soundtrack. Fools Rush open the episode with a track from their new album, Turns All Bad Feelings into Good Ones. I like this band a lot too. Simple, catchy punk for everyone! They also just recorded for a split with Abolitionist. That should be cool. Also on the show is Chimp Change, some cool punk-pop from Canada. They have a new album out called, Bruises, be sure to check it. Also again on the show is a track from Voice of Addiction, from their new album, Reduce, Reuse, Resist! I played a song from those guys on Episode 21. They too also made a stop here in Las Vegas sometime in August. And finally, I have a track from Fixit Kid, from the United Kingdom. I wish I had heard about this band before (they've been around for eleven years), they'll be playing one final show at the end of the year. Pick up their new album, Three, on bandcamp for free while you can. It's excellent.
Please enjoy this episode and the songs on it. Thank you for checking it out! Have a fun and safe week. And always, thanks for listening :-D

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween weekend! I'm sure for some, the party starts tonight. Well, Halloween is tomorrow, hope it goes well. It's weird for it to fall on a Monday. Bummer. I had the chance (and took one) to watch City of the Living Dead and Nightmare City. Both movies were fun to watch, but it took me a while to finish City. I couldn't find myself to eat during that movie. Without giving out any details, check out City of the Living Dead for the maggot scene. I say that in my best Joe Bob Briggs voice. I'd like to also check out The Thing and In Time in theaters sometime soon, most definitely before they stop showing them. But I have to breeze through the Kurt Russell one first :-D
I have some awesome stuff on Episode #32. Opening the show is another track from Social Concern. The song comes from their first album, California Angel. I didn't know this until recently, but the singer from Social Concern also has some acoustic material on the side. She goes by Shin-tok-ku. Some really cool stuff, check her songs out on reverbnation. Also on the show are songs by Oh No Joe and Las Robertas, both cool bands. Oh No Joe comes from the East Bay in San Francisco, California. Some pretty raw punk rock from this trio. They have a couple shows coming up in November, one in Livermore and one in San Francisco. Be sure to check out their facebook here for details about there. Las Robertas come from San Jose, Costa Rica. I stumble upon the band after checking out some stuff on Granderby Records and found their bandcamp. Really cool stuff. They stopped by the States this years and played a couple shows which included a spot at SXSW. Very awesome. I also play another track from The Beat Dolls. Love this band. They just played a show with Girl in a Coma on Friday. Love that band too. I think Girl in a Coma will be dropping a new record soon. And lastly, another track from Portland, Oregon natives, Fools Rush. Really like this band too. The album is really fun to listen to. Fo sho'. Check it out if you get the chance. Check out the other bands too! I'd love to one day check out a show by each of these bands. And share some beers. Or coffee. Either is fine :-D
Have a safe Halloween everyone! I can't believe Thanksgiving will be arriving soon. Maybe this year I'll hangout on Black Friday. I remember seeing people get ready at 9 p.m. Thanksgiving night. Crazy. Thanks to everyone checking out episodes and tuning in. Thanks for downloading too! Means a whole bunch. Happy Halloween everyone! Thanks for listening.

Did everyone turn back their clocks? It was nice to see 1:00 am happen twice. Went to a show this past weekend. I enjoyed it. It was actually my first time seeing any of them play live, and my first time at that venue. It was really nice to see Sic Waiting and Holding onto Sound, finally. The past year (and some change) I've only heard them through my stereo. Deadhand and TheCore. were excellent too. Hope to see those bands play again. And maybe I'll be drinking something else too. I maybe should have slapped myself for buying them $3 PBR's. But damn did it taste good. I also just picked up the new Reel Big Fish. It's got three discs. They re-recorded a bunch of their songs (the hits!) and recorded acoustic versions of a bunch of others like, 241, The Kids Don't Like It, and Your Guts (I Hate'em). Their show with Streetlight Manifesto, Lionize and Rodeo Ruby Love in December should be excellent.
Some cool stuff on this episode. Mike Got Spiked released a new album last month called, No is Not an Answer. That song first appeared on their Live & Acoustic album, but its been updated, electric guitars and everything. They had a project going on at Pledge Music. A new track from the album is also streaming at that page here. Also on the show again are tracks by OneStarCity and Abandon the Raft. Love both bands, but OneStarCity haven't been active for sometime now. Abandon the Raft have been playing shows on and off. They had one last month with Smokey Hoof and The Number Nines. Some recordings are also in the works for these guys. I have a track from Burning Streets, a punk band from Boston. Pretty cool tunes from this band. They actually just released a new album in September titled, Sit Still. A couple tracks are streaming on their Facebook and Reverbnation pages. On this episode though is a song from their, Is it in Black and White?, album. And of course, a new track from Last Stand For Lucy. Their new EP, Dysthymia Part-I, has five songs of alternative hard-rock. Part-II is in the works. Instead of releasing one album, the band will be releasing two separate EP's. It rocks.
Please enjoy the songs on this episode. I can't believe it's November all ready. Cue in the Christmas music! Thanks for listening :-D

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? I had a good time with family and friends. I made beef stew for dinner and no one ate it, well, just a little of it. I thought I was going to have a good lunch today, but it turns out my sister and her friends ate it all as a pre-Black Friday meal. I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought. Last night I ended up watching half of Godfather and maybe 20 minutes into Godfather II before I fell asleep. I had another marathon going on (check it out here :-D), but that kind of served more as a back up if nothing else were on t.v. And the Miami and Dallas game was pretty good too. Go Cowboys ;) I have lots of music to share and talk about before the year's end and then I should be releasing my special Top 25 show. Hopefully things don't get too crazy these next few weeks. I think Between the Buried and Me made a stop here in town this past Wednesday...hope it went awesome.
I have lots of awesome music on this episode (I think I say that for every episode, it's true :-D). I have a tune from the new Holding Onto Sound 7", The Tempest, which is available for order through Brick Gun Records and GC Records. The Sea is a pretty sick album too. The band released it earlier this year. I got to see this band for the first time at TheCore. EP release show not too long ago. Excellent show. TheCore. were awesome too, be sure to check out their new EP, Change, if you get a chance. Sic Waiting and Deadhand played too. Both awesome. It was especially cool to finally see Sic Waiting. Thanks to the awesome people at GC Records for the tune. Also on the show are The Chatty Cathies from Lafayette. They have some pretty rocking tunes, be sure to check out their EP, Locked Down & Mute, on their bandcamp. It's available right now @nameyourprice. I have a tune from the new Booze Cruise album, Moose Stuff. I'm really digging this album right now from these guys. They're from Yelloknife in Canada. Its got lots of that fast technical skate-punk kind of music, with some pretty tight solos on a few of the songs. Check out some other streaming tunes on their website here. They recently finished a tour sometime in October, playing shows with Sanity In Numbers, Overtime Heroes and Chimp Change. A track from Lester Freamon is also on the show. Like this band a lot. They have a new EP out called, Natural Police on vinyl and tape formats. Visit their website for details on how to pick up a copy. I went to one of their shows during the summer. Deafheaven played as did another local band. All the bands rocked my socks off...and my ears. And of course, I have a tune from the new Nothington album, Borrowed Time. I'm really loving this album too. It took me a bit to get into the songs, but I'm liking it a lot now. This album is definitely worth checking out. The songs are a bit rock n'roll with a punk approach, the vocals are rough and aggressive with a passionate voice all mixed in with an overall good sound. Check it.
Hope everyone is having a good Holidays so far. I know it's only the Friday after Thanksgiving, but yeah, all ready got the plastic tree out, lol. Need to get lights though. Thanks to everyone visiting the website and such and checking out the shows. Please enjoy the tunes on this episode. Go out and support your local scene because without you there is no scene. Please come back for the next episode! Got lots of more new music :-D See you next time. Thanks for listening!

Happy Holidays to everyone! I think it's about safe to start saying that now :-D Five whole days into December all ready. Hope everyone is having (or will be having) a good week. I know, it's only Monday. I guess this would be considered "Dead Week," the week before finals. I've heard different things for different schools where they don't have classes the week before finals, but some do? I'm hoping there still is class this week :-D I think last week for me was more intense. I had two exams and a quiz which meant more coffee than usual. I'm just glad it is done with. It should be all downhill from here.
The new episode has some pretty rad tunes by some pretty rad bands. On the episode are a couple other local bands (from Las Vegas :-D), Burning Agrestic and The Big Friendly Corporation. Both bands have new music coming out soon and I think both may have shows coming up on Saturday, December 10. Burning Agrestic will be playing in Henderson @ The Gold Mine Tavern, check out details here. They're a pretty groovy rock band with some solid reggae vibes. Can't wait to hear their new tunes. The Big Friendly Corporation play a monthly acoustic set @ The Beat every second Saturday, which is this coming Saturday. A new album will be out soon called, Nocturne, and a new song can be heard on their Bandcamp. This city is filled with some pretty awesome bands and I have yet to see a lot of them at a show. Maybe this weekend? I have another tune from Challenger! (check out another tune on Episode 27) with a track from their self-titled album. They posted several other tracks on their Bandcamp from their other releases, all of which can be downloaded for free. Also on the episode is an instrumental band, a two-piece, from Oakland, California called, Silian Rail. They play some really sweet stuff, very dreamy guitars and smooth drumming. I picked up a split they did with By Sunlight on the Side With Us Records website. They also had a kickstarter project going on (it was successful, congrats!), so they should have some previews coming out soon from the new album. It should be awesome. I've been visiting that website a lot lately. A lot of cool projects going on right now. Did anyone check out Five Iron Frenzy's project? That's crazy! And I have a really cool track from Indian School on the episode. Some of you may know all ready, they were formerly Audio Karate. Glad to hear that the members are still active in making music. They have five tunes up on SoundCloud. It's some really awesome pop/indie/rock tunes. My favorite right now is the track, High Low. On the episode though is the track called, Elvis, another dope track. But they should be releasing the EP, The Cruelest Kind, sometime next year, I think they may be recording another song to go along with the EP. Really rad stuff.
Please enjoy the music on this episode, I know I do :-D Be sure to check out their new tunes as the come out, which should be soon. Thank you to you listeners out there visiting the site and downloading episodes. Oh did anyone catch last weeks mid-season finale of the Walking Dead. That episode was dope. Like, really good. Can't wait till February. Also, got to finally watch Hanna and Kevin Smith's, Red State. Both some pretty wicked awesome movies. Red State was pretty much out of this world and some fantastic work by Michael Parks. For real. Have a good week everyone! Check back soon. Oh and Top 25 show this year too :-D Thanks for listening!

How is everyone doing? This past week has been a busy one. Just finished up my classes and now I'm ready to tackle exams this week. It should be an experience. Good luck to everyone taking finals and to everyone else going to school. It really has been a great term. I had the best lab group ever. One of my lab partners pointed out that we were a pretty apathetic group. She was right. I think we failed every one of our experiments. That's not really a good thing, but what mattered most to me was the people I worked with. They were the chillest group ever. It was always a good night with them. And I think that holds true in like the real world work place. If you don't get along with your co-workers, yeah, it's going to be a shitty day. But no complaints here, nope nope, just deal with it ;)
The new episode features some a few tracks from bands that have been featured on previous episodes. I have another one from Night Gaunts from their Full Body Tourettes Pt. II album. That album really is a sweet one to listen to. The tunes are so upbeat in a really colorful way. I've all ready played a couple tunes on previous episodes, so be sure to check those out. Or support the band by visiting their Bandcamp or picking up one of their shirts. I had this rule where I didn't buy any band t-shirts unless I was at one of their shows. But that's every so often these days. Also on the show again are the brutal sounds of No Contest and The Beautiful Ones. Lots of things in the works for both these bands. No Contest will be playing their last show of the year on December 17 in their hometown. Check out details here, for you Grimsby locals :-D They will be recording for their full-length at the end of January. The Beautiful ones will be recording for their new EP, Birth of Desire, sometime at the end of this year with a release date of April 2012 through 6131 Records. The Beautiful Ones also had a spot on this years Within These Walls Festival alongside such bands as H20, Stretch Armstrong, Gaza, Landmine Marathon, Dangers, and tons of others. I also play another track from Lands on Fire. They've been slowly releasing new tunes every now and then on their website. They have two other new tracks alongside with Strange Land (the song on this episode) available for download. My first Neon Reverb experience started off with an excellent lineup. Pet Tigers played as did Candy Warpop, Acton Town, and The Akashic Record. Opening this episode is a tune from The Akashic Record off of their new album, Like a Glove Cast in Iron. Their songs are a really interesting mix of rock and reggae. They do a good job of blending the two sounds along with experimenting with other styles and often incorporating it into their own. Another new track comes from Jardin de la Croix, an instrumental band from Madrid, Spain. The musicianship is really sharp on their new album, Ocean Cosmonauts. The songs are borderline epic with a majority of them exceeding six minutes. It's a mix of different styles including hard-rock, metal, and even some Spanish guitars. It's very nice to listen to. And closing the episode is a song from Scotland locals, WeCameFromWolves. Right now they have two singles out, Tidals and For All Our Sins, We're Golden, available on Bandcamp @nameyourprice. They are currently writing and recording for a new EP. Hope that comes out soon, their tracks are dope. I stumbled upon WeCameFromWolves after looking up PMX. Glad that happened.
As always, please enjoy these new tunes from these bands on the episode. I'm digging them :-D Also, I have two episodes left for the year. I will be shortly releasing the next episode sometime this week. It will showcase some songs that were on last years Top 25 Show. If anything, check back here on Monday, December 19, for the Top 25 of 2011 show. That's the potential release date ;-). I shall be leaving for Hawaii the following day for some long-term residency :-O. I'm looking forward to it. Las Vegas has been really nice, won't ever forget this place! Might even train for the Rock N' Roll Marathon next year, if it happens. Did anyone hear about the deal with the water. Hydrant water in garbage cans or something? ack! Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to subscribe to the podcast if you haven't all ready, tell a friend about the show sometime, and support local music! Thanks for listening :-D

- Episode #37 is alive and up and about! Listen to it here
Happy Holidays! Finals are finally over with. I thought I'd celebrate by picking up a couple records from the local shop, but didn't find what I was looking for. Instead, I settled for an Arizona Green Tea and with the possibility of checking out a movie later tonight. I wanted to check out Immortals, but it's only available in 3D. Maybe, Jack and Jill or Tower Heist, I could use some laughter after this week.
So for this episode, it's more like a flashback/review type of show. On it are seven tracks from the Top 25 of 2010 show. I wanted to reflect back on what I was listening to last year as sort of a prelude to this year's Top 25 Show. I think I'll make this an annual thing :-D For as long as I can. A lot of the bands on the list have gone on to continue making music, some with new releases and having signed to labels, while others have actually become inactive. But new projects have arisen! Which is always cool. I love listening to new projects. On this episode, I re-play tunes by Last Stand For Lucy, Nightlights, The Action Design, Sic Waiting, Science Fiction Theater, Craig's Brother, and Journal. Last year, Science Fiction Theater and Craig's Brother released only singles, songs I thought to be really awesome, even if it was just a single track. Craig's Brother did end up releasing their long awaited third album, The Insidious Lie, like right at the New Year. I got my copy in the mail sometime earlier this year and it turned out to be amazing. For real. Science Fiction Theater released a couple other singles since Broken Is Art. These tunes are The Wedding Song and Taking Flight, which was released as a digital split with Indian School. The Happy Sadness (Mike Jimenez) also came about with a couple tunes. Since the release of Long Way Home, Nightlights have gone on to sign with Eulogy Recordings. The band released a new full-length this year titled, So It Goes. It features a lot more clean guitars, but still holds a lot of the rock-pop medleys of their previous songs. The Action Design have since disbanded with members continuing on and concentrating on their current projects. These projects at the moment include Shuteye Unison and Survival Guide, both awesome bands. Last Stand For Lucy have also kept really busy, releasing two music videos (Burn Everything and Heartless Son of a Bitch) and a new EP titled, Dysthymia Part I. The new EP is the first of a two-part concept from the band with the second to be released sometime next year. The last show I went to was TheCore. EP release show. It was an excellent show. And Sic Waiting played, along with Holding Onto Sound, TheCore. and Deadhand. It was really cool to finally see those guys live as well as the rest too. And of course, I had to play the number spot of last year's show, Journal with their album, Unlorja. This was a really creative album. The music is so chaotic and the whole concept original, it definitely is worth checking out if you haven't yet. And it was also really cool to see that the members have kept active since their 2007 release of Casualties of War. I do hope they keep making music.
Please enjoy this episode. These are really excellent tunes. And please check back next week Monday, December 19 for this year's Top 25 Show. Well, that's what I'm shooting for anyway. Last year, yeah, it was a bit late lol. Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone is enjoying their Winter break. It's about that time to relax and just chill. I think I'll play some much needed RE4. That's Resident Evil 4. I want my infinity ammo rocket launcher. Thanks again for checking out the site. Thanks for listening! See ya next week (here's hoping :-D).

- The Top 25 of 2011 Show is finally up and about, streaming for everyone to hear! Listen to it down below. Check out more info on the albums that made this year's list is here.
Thank you for stopping by, I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! Looking forward to the New Year. That means it's barbecue time! Its been about two weeks since I had originally planned to have released this episode. I know, it's almost like last year's Top 25 show. Very last minute, but I sometimes think it's just an unintentionally bad habit of mine. I'll try to break it. Since Episode 37, I had just finished with finals, but I also had the daunting task of having to pack and organize all my things. I was moving back home (to the 50th). I had about five days to pack which is probably more than enough time for anyone, but I guess I just wanted to hang out and do anything but pack. Boy, did I munch on a lot of Kalbi and sushi that last weekend. Thank you Las Vegas for being good to me.
So for the past seven years, I'd write out a list of 25 of my favorite albums of the year, something started by one of my good buddies back home. But it was only last year in which I decided to turn it into a show, and with this year's episode, hopefully it'll be an annual thing. Since 2005, I like to think I've broaden my musical tastes, but I still have my favorites. Here's a look at what I was listening to back then:

I was in my third year of college and thought I had my handle on Indie Rock (obviously not). I also tend to use the term indie rock to classify sound, another bad habit of mine. That year I finally got a slot at the radio station at school and as you can see, we always received a lot of stuff from Victory Records. And luckily too, the radio station was free format and we were fortunate enough to receive music from major labels (much thanks to our awesome music director). Little did I know, that's not really policy for a lot of college radio. One of my other good friends from back home had a spot at the radio station at UC Irvine. I think they were fairly strict on mainstream no-play. Rightfully so, college radio is all about independent artists, but I also like to think that UC Irvine reached out to a much larger audience than my school's 1,000+ student body. Not everyone listened to radio in that small Oregon town.
So this year's Top 25 show features a pretty diverse list (check out more info here). It's a nice mix of debut's along with a lot of follow-ups from bands I've been listening to for a while now. Of course, there were a lot of other albums that came out this year that I really dig. If you get a chance check out the new releases from Former Thieves (The Language that We Speak), Departures (When Losing Everything is Everything You Wanted), Elba (Elba), Say Revenge (Rough Night, Sugar?), TheCore. (Change), Unfair Fight (A Constant Struggle), Secnd Best (Teach 'em to Purr), Toh Kay (Streetlight Lullabies), and Reel Big Fish (A Best of Us...For the Rest of Us). Just some excellent listening. And there's lots more out there too. Any thing you'd like to recommend? Let me know!
Also, unlike last year's show, I'll be playing 25 full tracks on this episode. The show is divided into three parts totaling in just under 100 minutes. Be brave, be brave, and stick it out to the end, you'll enjoy it! Well, at least, I hope you do :-D. And please enjoy this show for what it is - a list of my own personal favorite albums of 2011.

Background music by She Likes Todd, Go Jimmy Go, M.U.I., and Last Call
25. Anchors - One Man Wolf Pack
This is the first song I heard from Anchors when it originally appeared on Songs for Lily. The version on Bad Juju is much more revved up. It's fast, technical, and just a freaking awesome song.

24. Lipstick Homicide - Calling in Dead
The band also produced a music video for this song, check it out here. It's also a split music video with Grism. I love the bass-line on this song and the harmonies on the pre-chorus. It's a wonderfully catchy tune. Check out Billy Ray-Gun on the other side of this split too.

23. Eskera - Eskera
Probably one of their more aggressive songs on the album, and rightfully so, it's the name of their band too!

22. Dirty Filthy Mugs - You Want It All
This is a really fast song and it's short and snappy. I'm sure this is a favorite during live shows.

21. Ridgemont - Oh, Fishsticks!
I love the title for this song and the drums in the beginning. It's also the song that opens Side B on the record.

20. Fixit Kid - Pork
This is the second track on their album and probably one of the less experimental-sounding. The guitars sound a bit creepy in a kind of chilling way.

19. Silver Snakes - Act II - An Evolution in Movement
I really like the drum and bass introduction. It's really heavy sounding and reminds me a lot of Prize Country. Certainly my favorite song on the record.

18. Booze Cruise - Stoner Bashing Time
This song opens with a sick bassline and has a pretty tight solo. It's really fast paced and features some really tight technical punk riffs.

17. Survival Guide - The Walls
This is the first song I heard from Survival Guide and immediately got hooked. Be sure to check out the other new music they just released on their Facebook. The song, One to One, is currently up for free download.

16. Saturday's Kids - Empty Space
Saturday's Kids are from South Wales in the UK. I first heard them through browsing their label, Art For Blind, on Bandcamp. I picked this song to play because of the pretty piano outro on the song.

15. Last Stand For Lucy - Seven
This is the second time Last Stand For Lucy made the list, this time with their Dysthymia Part I EP. All the songs on this EP are really good, but I went with Seven because I really dig their slower stuff. Check out the track, Restless, on Episode 33.

14. Brick Mower - Cowboy in a Nutshell
I absolutely love songs with bassline introductions, even as one as simple as this, although I really do like sound of it too. Check out another tune (Weaving) from this album (Under the Sink) on Episode 19.

13. Pimpbot - Meet You at the Bar
Meet You at the Bar is the opening track to Pimpbot's self-titled album. It sounds like they only use two chords for this entire song. If so, then that's pretty bad ass. I also love the line that's used in this song, Just be glad that you made it this far. It just sounds really tight.

12. Brief Candles - Sink or Swim
I was so stoked to hear that Brief Candles were still active and more so on the fact that they had a new album out. I think that Sink or Swim came out on a 7" as a single along with the song, Pieces of Hate, on the Bus Stop Label.

11. Big D and the Kids Table - Modern American Gypsy
I finally got to see Big D and the Kids Table for the first time ever when they stopped by in Las Vegas for Warped Tour. They also played a second show that night at a bar, but I had to work grave. I left Warped soon after their set. It was a rough night, but well worth it. Oh, and they opened up their set with Modern American Gypsy.

09. The Copyrights - Worn Out Passport
Worn Out Passport has a really nice melody to it, very nice to sing along to.

08. Pour Habit - Tomahawk
I got to see Pour Habit this year when they went on tour with Authority Zero. I was house-sitting that weekend and wasn't able to catch Authority Zero's set. Pour Habit's set was sick though. Nice mix of the new songs and the ones off of Suiticide. Really nice dudes too.

07. Police Teeth - Rock & Roll is a Pyramid Scheme (Parts 1 & 2)
My favorite song on the album. The ending of this song is just really cool. The ending verse kind of loops, almost like a Canon, in which the main theme is repeated in more than one way. It would be a really cool song to hear live.

06. Jr. Worship - 666
This was one of the first songs I heard from Jr. Worship. It might have been a demo version along with Blue Lagoon and Crank It. 666 opens with a nice beat with some nice contrasting melodies and an interesting closing line, I was a better lover when I was a satanist. And another thing too, one of my first entries in the Noise and Ramblings section I mention a show with Jr. Worship and Police Teeth playing together. That would have been a good one to go to. Too bad it was in Portland.

05. Vultures United - To Live and Die in Gainesville
I was happy to hear that Vultures United released a new record this year. This song recalls their experience and pays tribute to Fest, which happens in Florida every year. I think 2011 was year 10 for the festival. Sounds like a really rad time.

04. Black Square - Long Time Coming
I really love the solos on this song. They've definitely grown musically since their humble beginnings of End the Cycle, when their horn section consisted of a lone trumpet player.

03. Holding Onto Sound - Questions
The break down in this song is so sweet. Just for a couple measures, it's just the hi-hat and bass drum, then some soft vocals. The guitars and bass take over, and it's just a sweet jam from then on. A really, really tight track. Check out another tune from their Tempest EP on Episode 34

02. Nothington - Ordinary Lives
I played this tune on Episode 34. Check out the whole album if you get a chance, you won't be disappointed.

One of my favorite bands ever. Really good to hear they released some new music. This song is the opening track to their newest EP, Domesticated.
