1. Casket Life
Casket Life have played more than a handful of shows this year, including one with TSOL and others in June and a few others earlier in the year along side Hot New Mexicans. According to their myspace, Casket Life's next show is in September in Scottsdale, Arizona with Off With Their Heads, Riverboat Gamblers and Dead to Me. Check out show details here. I featured Casket Life on episode's four and twelve last year with tracks coming from their latest album, Building a Better Disaster (2010). The album was released independently by the band. The song on this episode is titled, Rock N' Roll Death Machine, off of their first album, The Good Times are Killing Me (2005).
2. Battle Flask
Battle Flask are a four piece coming from Los Angeles, California. The band formed back in 2006. They have one EP (Pledge Your Allegiance, 2007), and an album (Smile!...Tomorrow Will Be Worse, 2010), both released on Fallen Angel Records. They have also been featured on numerous compilations, some released by Fallen Angel Records and Brown Bag Propaganda. Their music is an excellent mix of punk and hardcore, played fast and aggressive. They have several shows coming up, including one with Angry Samoans and another one with Poison Idea, and a bunch of others. Check out their facebook for more details. 3. The Rusty Trombones
The Rusty Trombones come from Brantford, Ontario, Canada. This four piece punk/ska band, released one album (Sleep When You're Dead, 2007) on its own label, More Ape than Man Records. I also featured the band on a previous episode (check it out here), with the track, Shadow of a Bomb, from, Sleep When You're Dead. They also have an EP, Fight & Flights (2010), with some tunes up for streaming on the band's myspace. The song on this episode is titled, Walking Disaster, off of, Fights & Flights.
4. Chewing on Tinfoil
Chewing on Tinfoil are a five piece ska/punk band based in Dublin, Ireland. Their tunes, especially on their first record, are really fun to listen to. They have several releases which include their debut record, Get Rich or Try Dyin' (2009), the EP, Shaving (2010), an acoustic EP (2007), and their latest, a split record with Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun. Chewing on Tinfoil have played shows throughout the year and will soon be going on a short tour in the UK with Leftover Crack. Show dates and details can be found on their facebook. 5. Eskera
Eskera are a ska/punk band from San Diego, California. This four-piece play hardcore ska/punk with much crust influence in their music. Their lyrics, mostly about political ideals and culture, are sung in both Spanish and English. They recently did a month long tour in June, playing along the West Coast. On August 27, they will be playing a show alongside Union 13 and others. Details can be found on their facebook. Eskera's most recent release is the 15 song album, Ruido Debajo Del Puente. Check it out on their bandcamp. I also featured a track from that album on episode 21. The band also has another release, the EP, Nuestra Lucha, Nuestra Gente (2010).
