Still alive here, ok? Word.
Here is a new episode for your hungry ears, maybe for some of you lucky few anyway :-D This episode and for the next two, I'll be sharing tracks from my favorite releases from this past year (2015 that is). And I'll be going in order of my Top 25 list, with select tracks to be played, not all.
Please listen to the episode HERE or download HERE
I usually try to reserve the 25th spot to a reissue, and for 2015 I gave it to Big D and the Kids Table with their reissue of Gipsy Hill. It received a sweet transfer to 10" vinyl, on two toned black and white color. If you haven't heard that EP, it may sound like it could have been a part of How It Goes, since it was originally intended to be on the album, but that would have been a long track list. To lessen things up a bit, they made Gipsy Hill. Great set of songs. The song on this episode is titled, Evil Girl Angry Girl.

Also on the episode is a track from the Unlovables, off a new split titled, Reunion Show, the track, Worthwhile. I was stoked to hear new music was coming out from this band, through Whoa Oh Records no less, and opposite to Dirt Bike Annie. Both bands still pack a good punch in their pop-punk sound, tons o'melody, and whattayaknow, a whole lot of whoa oh's. Just delightful.

Suicide Kings are a hip-hop duo originally from Detroit, now based in Alberta, Canada. They still make reference and mention Detroit in their lyrics (and Canada), often speaking of struggles, but still holding strong. I do like most the beats sampled and used, and fortunately, the album comes with the instrumental, Game Changer, a fantastic track which I play on the show. The group's album is titled, Rock'em to Sleep, on vinyl available through the band or Panda Claw Records.

Estates are a three-piece from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One of the best emo-indie-punk rock albums to come out in 2015 in my opinion. Very mid-tempo, aggressive rock, almost relaxing, but very emotional for sure. The song on the episode is titled, Not Now. The album is It's Great to be Alone, released on vinyl through Flannel Gurl Records. Another great album from an awesome label.

Unfair Fight, excellent hardcore punk and thrash from this sin city quartet. I like a lot of bands from Las Vegas, but Unfair Fight, definitely in my top 5 favorites. The keep it quick and fast, aggressively so, and very consistent, and they do just that non-stop on their latest EP. They've only released one album so far, but have been releasing new material these past years through several EPs. Check them out, you won't be disappointed. Their song on this episode is titled, Mental Detox. Word.

Employed to Serve are a five-piece from the UK, the album is Greyer than you Remember, released through Holy Roar Records (they have a U.S. store now!). It's a beast of a record and as for as heavy goes, this album gets pretty fracking heavy. The album progressively becomes darker sounding, until the end, and that's where it gets cold. And you can feel it. The track on this episode is titled, No One's Perfect, This Includes You. It's pretty gnarly.

Another fantastic band from the UK, Gets Worse, a three-piece hardcore band. Very aggressive, very fast, violent sounding. I swear I only thought of one band when I first heard these guys and it turns out they did a split with them, Fissure (from Southern California, they have a records in the Melotov Records catalog). Check out both bands, but be careful! You will fall in love with both. If you're into that sort of thing. The music, that is. Gets Worse EP on 2015's list is Yellow Belly. The song on this episode is Chancer.

Hope everyone's spring break (woo hoo!) is going good so far. I actually caught a bit of bug or something, turns out it might have been the flu. It was freezing Tuesday morning...those chills are gone, now a cough came by to bother me. But I'm feeling much better now, I went straight for some OJ and liquid medication. yum.
Anyway, I have lots to share in the upcoming weeks, please check back soon. Support local music! Thanks for listening!
