EPISODE #171

This is the last episode of Season 14! I've never really did "seasons," of this podcast. Originally, it was just a year-round podcast with no real set schedule. I thought at least this way, I can space out these episodes and give myself time to put shows together. On this episode is a track from few locals here in Hawaii. First up is a track from Nicki Tedesco , a musician oiriginally from LA, now residing in Maui. She has a new record coming up, Tragically Malicious, with a track available to stream. Her record release show is on May 22 at Da Playground on Maui. Lesbian Dads just dropped a new album, but did play its last show on Alien Day (April 26). That was such a fun show, alongside some heavy hitters, Fastidium, Violent Beach and YUH. Wipes is a band from PA, with a new album out titled, Don't Tell My Parents, on a nice turqoise and black vinyl. But on the show is a track from their debut record, Making Friends, both released through Hex Records. Also on the episode is a track from Holding Onto Sound's, Songs of Freedom, album, which got the wax treatment through GC Records on a lovely multi-colored variant. It was re-released as part of a fundraiser. Read more about that HERE . Closing this episode is a track from a new band that made its live debut in January, Load tha Chamber , a new hardcore band featuring members of Blood Money 808, Heart Attack, Goat Punishment, Step Suns, and possibly more. Stoked to see them at this month's Once a Month Punk.

This is going to by my last episode of Season 14! Will be releasing old episodes as part of the Taking It Back series (just re-releasing all old episodes). Prepping something new just for the season opener of this podcast in celebration of Year 15! It may happen, it may not, but regardless, a new episode will be released on June 19, this podcasts' birthday. Until then, thanks for always listening!

EPISODE #170

Lots of heavy tunes on this episode. Opening the show is a track from YUH, local 808 grindcore, who I got to see a couple Saturdays ago. It's been a while and it was such a treat to see them along side Fastidium, Violent Beach and Lesbian Dads, who played its last show (check out this podcasts' YOUTUBE channel for footage of that show!) But they still got some new music coming out! YUH got tapes of its self-titled album through NO TIME RECORDS. Hope to hear some new stuff soon. Shout out to Ryan at Panda Claw Records. I picked up a copy of Hard Mind's album, Endless Fall, through Panda Claw. Black vinyl is available through the band too. Been to a few hardcore shows and got me thinking of a past band, Siblings. They were very active in the scene and it was always a treat to see them, for me, that was only a few times. Sorry Baby is a band I hope to see one day, and I hope they make lots of records, but right now, it's the one EP. I'm glad Jordan Salazar has a new project. Facet is another band I hope to see one day. Very heavy, very noisy, just an overalll great sound.

Playlist
  1. YUH - Post Human Highway (YUH) [0:16]
  2. Hard Mind - Empty and Cold (Endless Fall) [3:29]
  3. Siblings - Massive Aggressive (Four Songs) [5:23]
  4. Sorry Baby - Coward (Coward) [8:27]
  5. Facet - DDMDD (split w/Haunted Horses) [16:06]

EPISODE #169

I went to a few shows in the last month, one most memorable at the moment, Once a Month Punk on 04/19/2025, mostly because my lovely girlfriend took me out for sushi, treated me to $5 mai tais and we got to see several punk rock bands. It was a lovely time. My first time seeing John Doe and Wally Brando live. John Doe played a very energetic set. And members of Skullboy and Bad Sushi filled up 75% of wally Brando which was a treat to see finally. They looked pretty snazzy in their cool leather jackets. The Granite Saints and Full Send are always a good time. Also on this episode is a new track from Journal. Just a grindy good time. The members of Journal be writing some tasty tunes once again! And of course, instrumental and vocal versions of their new songs are available. Also too, opening up this episode is a track from Fastidium, local doom band. Looking forward to their show coming up, playing alongside YUH, Violent Beach and Lesbian Dads. That should be a really fun show! I picked up a copy of their EP on casette as well as a couple t-shirts from the drummer, John Kirby. A limited run were only made, but more copies may be available through Crucial Blast, a record label.

EPISODE #168

Technically, this is EP3S15. Year 15 of this podcast and I haven't broken 200 episodes yet. All good though, it's been a wild ride up to now. Met some very cool people in the process and hope to keep it going. A couple cool tunes and some local 808 superstars as well. I open up the show with Phoenix, AZ punk band, Bite the Hand. They got an EP out titled, Conned out of Life, released through Wiretap Records. I got to see Weight of Sin a couple times this year all ready and it's always a fun show. Most recently I got to see them open up for Silent Planet during spring break alongside Mara Bloom. That was a super fun show. I also went to Kona recently, so I thought I'd play a couple tunes from the Big Island. And closing out this show is a new track from Teethout, part of the High End Denim roster. They have an EP coming out shortly titled, Brittle But Elite. Some nice skate punk. Have a wonderful week, everyone! Thanks for listening.
